In the early 1910s, the Japanese watch manufacturer debuted its first mechanical watch. In continuation of its development, Seiko has launched its automatic caliber in the 1950s, along with its marvel, which is the creation of its shock-absorbing system for the movement; known as the "Diashock" system.

Seiko has gone through decades of refinements and developing its mechanical watchmaking skills. This had led to the creation of Seiko's own all-mechanical collection; the Presage. The collection is heavily based on Seiko's heritage whereby most of the design cues are translated from the 1913 Laurel (with an enamel white dial and Arabic numerals).

Today, we introduced to you the latest model; the Seiko Presage Craftsmanship 110 Anniversary White  Ref. SARW071. Limited to 1500 pieces, Seiko celebrates their 110th anniversary with a lfire-treated enamel dial crafted in the land of the rising sun.
 
Seiko is both a genius watchmaker and master in craftsmanship, not just in reliability and quality of their timepieces, but also in their aesthetics and craftsmanship. Therefore today we will be focusing more on the latter.

As it is an in the Presage line, the SARW071 is powered by Seiko's 6R automatic caliber, the 6R27 operates at 28,800 BPH (4 Hertzs) with hacking and hand winding capabilities. It has 29 jewels with a power reserve of 45 hours through a Spron 510 mainspring.
 

The main highlights are the placements of the additional power reserve indicator and sub date display, located at 9 and 6 o'clock respectively. Both the date subdial and power reserve indicator are hand painted onto the dial, while leaving each indications unimpeded when viewing. This is a very high level of fine finishing is demonstrated again in this presage model.

A gentlemen’s mechanical watch like the SARW071, can be worn for any occasion and feel proud of it especially for it's uncanny resemblence to its predigre “Grand Seiko” cousins. Part of the Presage lineup of dress watches, means that this is a step above the Spirit collection(SARB033) in terms of built and finishing. The watch is fitted in a modest 40.2mm case with an average profile of 12.8mm thick (with the additional complications). This stainless steel case is then finished in a mix of satin brush and polishing to give it a more upmarket look.
 

The most unique feature of the Presage timepiece is probably the white enamel dial that stays true to its heritage since the 1913 Laurel watch. The advantage of enamel is of course its toughness and it will neither wear off nor age. Which means it will retain the same fine glossy finishing even after many years. It is a one piece enamel dial, with snailing sub-dials at 6 and 9 o'clock.

To top things off, the dial is paired with a set of elegant blued hands, while the hour markers are painted in Arabic numerals. The hour markers are deep black sans the signature red numeral “12”, painted directly onto its enamel dial surface repeatedly at least 10 times, so to achieve great depth and contrast. One can easily spend hours looking at the watch to admire the intricate details that Seiko has put into this excellent dress watch, withstanding the very close scrutiny, and able to pass with flying colors.

The SARW071 comes with a genuine full-stitch textured leather strap with a deployment clasp with push button release.

With the Seiko Presage anniversary model, Seiko have once again showcase their ability to produce an elegant timepiece, packed with traditional Japanese artistry techniques. It brings tremendous value for one who wants to own a traditional hand finished enamel dial, where it is executed to the same high standards of watches that cost many times more.
