The design cues strongly reflect on its vintage 37mm MIDO SKYDIVE Diver and Diver Scuba, while the resemblance more closely to the latter for its hour markers.

The Ocean Star Tribute sized for modern tastes at a 40.5mm diameter case with a height of 13.4mm. The straightforward and robust design, which was archetypal that stamped the world of dive watches since its popularity of recreational diving in the 60s. The Ocean Star Tribute furthers bears their iconic straight lugs mid-case design with a mixture of high polish on all sides to enhance the tool-watch of the 60s look. The finishings done here, to be honest, is almost impeccable, elevating luxurious sides out from its shadow. The bezel is narrow like it supposed to be, rotating at 60 clicks crisply in an anti-clockwise direction. The case back has a beautiful surprise in store- decorated with a polished starfish in relief, the historical symbol of the Ocean Star.

Let us confess a little bit here, we at Gnomon Watches and we believe a lot of you do appreciate an excellent vintage re-issue, wait, we meant any, to be well finished in today's Swiss Made luxury standard! Kudos to Mido that the Ocean Star Tribute does meet this level through and through.

Finally, the multi-link mesh bracelet made of steel with the same impeccable finishing, give the Ocean Star Tribute the superb retro-look that was responsible for the success of the original models. The signed clasp features a diver extension that allows one to adjust with ease.

Up till now are the looks and vibes of what a 60s diver should be like, the movement shifts things to the modern side — the caliber 80 of MIDO based on the ETA C07.621 with a full 80-hour power reserve. The Caliber 80 is considered in-house as MIDO is part of the Swatch group family, and the modified ETA CO7.621 features a Nivachoc spring with its frequency reduced to 21,600 Hz for and an improved mainspring capacity.
