Unveiling the newest Engineer II Endurance 1917, Ball has clad a chronometer certified automatic movement in one of their most popular Engineer Master II models. The Engineer Master II measures in at 40mm in diameter, and lug to lug of 46.6mm, with a height of 13.6mm. The dimension allows the wearer to have unisex wearability. Further, it features a screwed-in crown, commonly found on most Ball’s watches, allowing it to have a 100m water resistant. Once the time and date adjustments are done, screw back the crown will enable one to wind it up for some action.
What makes the Engineer Master II Endurance durable is the use of 316L stainless steel through and through. The case distills multi-polished finishing throughout, where the top surface is satined finished while the sides and bezel are mirror polished.Here, the case houses Ball’s Amortiser® Patented Anti-shock system and Mu-Metal Shield protection allowing for a remarkable shock resistance tested up to 5,000Gs.
Moving on to the dial, the new Engineer Master II takes some tweaks from the earlier version, the 17 micro gas tubes on the dial are slimmer, while keeping 12, 6 and 9 ones slightly bigger, helping legibility when reading the time. 14 of them glows in bright green while the big one at 12 glows in deep orange to assist in dial orientation in the dark.
Couple this with a tapered sword style hour and minute hands, Couple this with their signature seconds hand with Ball’s “RR” symbol as counterweight on the other end. Topping things off for the dial, the Engineer II has a cyclop flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating underneath.
The Engineer Master II Endurance 1917 is powered by the COSC Ball RR1103. It is a 25 jewels automatic movement based on the ubiguitous ETA2824-2 that boasts a 40-hour power reserve even though it beats at 28,800bph(4 Hertzs). Whats more is that Ball utilized asSpecial movement oil for the movement parts, allowing it to endure -45°C / -49°F. The movement is hooded by a screw-in caseback that displayed Ball’s very own iconic emblems with essential information engraved at the periphery.
The new Engineer Master II's bracelet runs alongside with the star of the show, paired with their elegant solid links bracelet made out of 316 steel, done with a nice mixture of polished and satin finished throughout. The bracelet, for the first time, gets a nice tapering from 20mm to 18mm at the clasp area, making it more wearable. Further features a double-sided locking clasp system which makes the bracelet more streamlined when being worn.
