Ball Watch Company is one of the most respected and established watch brands in the United States with their watches Made in Switzerland. They have been updating their product range in the 21st century, enabling them to keep pace with shifting consumer patterns. Not leaving their roots, Ball continues to upheld original details, such as the watch dial that faithfully follows the design guidelines for the standard railway watch. Till this day, Ball makes superior watches that endure all adverse conditions, even more so could be seen in their all new Engineer M Marvelight collection.

Ball Engineer M Marvelight Blue Ref. NM9032C-S1C-BE

Unveiling the new Engineer M Marvelight, Ball has introduced their new fully in-house movement in one of their most popular Engineer II models; the Engineer M Marvelight, more on that later on the new movement. The Engineer M Marvelight measures in at 40mm in diameter with a height of 13.4mm and 47.5mm lugs-to-lugs. Further, it features a screwed-in crown, commonly found on most Ball's watches, allowing it to have a 100m water resistant. Once the time and date adjustments are done, screwing back the crown will enable one to bring it out for some splash around water.

Moving on to the dial, the new Engineer M Marvelight takes some tweaks from the earlier version, the 17 micro gas tubes on the dial are slimmer, while keeping 12, 6 and 9 ones slightly bigger, helping legibility when reading the time. 16 of them glows in bright green while the big one at 12 glows in deep orange to assist in dial orientation in the dark.

Elegant case and bracelet finishing

Couple this with a tapered baton style hour and minute hands, along with their signature seconds hand with Ball's "RR" symbol as counterweight on the other end. Topping things off for the dial, the Engineer M Marvelight has flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating underneath. It further clads a Cyclops magnifier in effort to enhance the date readability.

Now for the star of the show, the Ball Watch Co. Engineer M Marvelight NM9032C-S1C-BE is powered by the manufacture caliber RRM7309-C. It is an automatic movement that boasts an amazing 80-hour power reserve even though it beats at 28,800bph (4 Hertzs). What's more? This caliber 7309 being produced entirely in-house by Ball, is also Chronometer (COSC) certified. Owners can acknowledge this fact from the "Chronometer, 80Power hrs" texts seen on the bottom half of the dial. The movement can be admired through the display casebackk while being well protected with their own patented Amortiser anti-shock system, that consists of a protective and anti-magnetic ring around the mechanical movement that absorbs the energy created by side impacts and shocks.

17 micro gas tubes on dial and hands for night reading capability

The new Marvelight paired with their elegant solid links bracelet with a nice mixture of polished and satin finished throughout. The bracelet features a double-sided locking clasp system which makes the bracelet more streamlined when being worn.

Summing things up, as the watch industry is running short of long-running Swiss ETA movements, this is an excellent accomplishment for Ball to be able to offer entirely in-house movement to watch enthusiasts, who appreciate fine watchmaking that packs reliability and value from a respected watch company. The Ball Engineer M Marvelight exhibits exceptional value given that it has a 28,800bph in-house movement with 80 hours power reserve, Chronometer certification, Ball patented anti-shock system, self-illuminating tritium tubes and exceptional case and bracelet finishing. We think it will be difficult to find another watch with similar specifications without going to the next price category.
