The name Rainflower was introduced as an architectural reference to Singapore’s ArtScience Museum, which was built in the shape which was reminiscent of a lotus flower. The bowl-shaped style of the museum symbolizes a modern yet functional design as the rainwater collected from the roof of the structure is reused in the building’s system. Reflecting the delicate beauty of this magnificent monument, the Rainflower shares many similar design attributes that is embodied in its gorgeous textured dial and exquisite case shape.
The Rainflower line of watches from Mido was unveiled in November 2018 during the #CreateYourMido participative campaign that was launched in Singapore, the campaign invited Mido fans to share their favorite combination of case treatment, dial, strap and precious stones used. 4 models were chosen from more than 2400 suggested designs to be part of Mido’s new feminine rainflower line up. Mido Rainflower Night Ladies Ref. M043.207.36.106.00 |
Just like Singapore’s ArtScience Museum, the Mido Rainflower Night Ladies Ref.M043.207.36.106.00 utilizes high quality materials in its build. Constructed out of 316L stainless steel PVD treated with an attractive rose gold PVD coating, the polished case of the Rainflower feels incredibly well-built despite being a rather dressy piece. The extremely technical process of Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) coating forms a strong, impurity-free film to microscopically boost the watch’s corrosion resistance and hardness.
Coming in a graceful size that fits the modern taste, the delicately-sized 34mm case diameter presents a touch of sophistication while still boasting a great wrist presence. Sitting on the wrist with a remarkable slenderness of merely 9.8mm despite housing an automatic movement, the case profile is kept ultra-thin for a discreet yet refined experience. Soft, gentle curves on its rounded case feature a set of uniquely engraved columns reminiscent of the petal ornaments from the inspired monument, bringing out a distinctive luxurious character that is undeniably a work of fine art.
