Seiko Presage Cocktail Time "Blue Moon Open-Heart" Ref. SARY155 / SSA405

The new Presage Cocktail Time models just released this year is part of the Presage collection, which was launched by Seiko in 2016. Riding on the successful launch of the limited edition "Starlight" duos (SARY166/087), that features a fantastic night-sky blue dial and the flowery cream white versions dubbed "Sakura Hubuki" based on International Bar Association World Champion, bartender Hisashi Kishi's cocktails. Today, Seiko has released a variant that carries a unique smokey-effect blue hue, the SARY155/SSA405J1, aka the "Blue Moon Open-Heart."

Based on Seiko's reliable 4R caliber, the SARY155/SSA405J1  powered by Seiko's automatic caliber with an open-heart display at 9 o'clock, its the 4R38. The steady 12 ligne movement operates at 21,600 BPH (3 Hertz) with hacking and hand winding capabilities. The movement allows an open up frame at 9 o'clock, to showcase its balance wheel movement, which provokes the wearer that the Cocktail timepiece is alive and "breathing." It has 24 jewels with a power reserve of approximately 41 hours through a Spron 110 mainspring.

Fume blue dial with weaving patterns

The 40.5mm wide case has a lug distance of 47,5mm and 11.8mm in height, allowing one to wear it elegantly and fittingly even on small wrists, without any dose of feeling overly large like a sports watch. Its polished case contains a unique fume dial with circular weaving patterns, that gets darker shade reaching near the periphery while radiating a kind of ripple effects on the dial that reminds us of how on calm water be affected by motions when something touches the surface. This ripple behavior along with the weavings can be genuinely enjoyed when one strapped it on and spent some time glazing at it tirelessly.

Keeping the original Cocktail Time indices, the mesmerizing dial paired with polished speared shaped applied indexes, polished dauphine hands, and a golden second hand. The beautiful dark blue ripple dial is one of the most striking features of this watch, which has an easily recognizable and well-defined effect on its dial that gives outshine depending on the light condition. All these aesthetics, along with the open-work of the balance wheel, can be seen through a box-shaped crystal to get an old-school look.

For a nice finishing touch, the watch comes fitted with a matching blue leather band with matching stitches and a deployant buckle. The Seiko Cocktail Time also has a signed crown and a water resistance of 50 meters.
