A 60 ATMOS T-183 Squale watch review. Light, contemporary, yet remaining true to its heritage. Read on to find out more.
May 22, 2024

The 60 ATMOS T-183 Forged Carbon comes from the contemporary yet stunning brand Squale. Although relatively less known, the Swiss-originated and now Italian-based Squale was well regarded in the world of diving timepieces, especially in the late 60s, and for being the watch case manufacturer for top brands Tag Heuer, Blancpain, and DOXA.

These recent years saw a rise in their popularity and with that, I took the chance to write a Squale watch review of one of their newest releases, the 60 ATMOS T-183 Forged Carbon. Offered in Blue and Orange, I opted for the latter. At first glance, the nifty design exudes voguish energy. Good-looking indeed.

Do read on to take more than just a glance at the 60 ATMOS T-183 Forged Carbon Blue on this Squale watch review. Delve deeper into the components that make the timepiece as it is – the case, movement, bezel, dial, and the crown. Last but not least, find the final verdict: is it worth the investment?

A Closer Look at the Squale 60 ATMOS T-183 Forged Carbon Blue

On further inspection, the Squale 60 ATMOS T-183 Forged Carbon provides an attractive contrast with the appearance of the blue accents offered in several parts of the watch and a gray-black matte appearance that seem to envelop almost the whole timepiece.

With a 42mm case size along with a 15.5mm height and weighing at 102 grams, this particular watch does run a bit heavy – especially on top – when worn. More prominently when considering its carbon material. Not to worry though, it remains comfortable due to the attentive design most especially in its ergonomic curved down case and slim mid-cover.

The Watch Case

First to comment on this Squale watch review is what makes the Squale 60 ATMOS T-183 Forged Carbon Blue special. It is the presence of the interwoven fiberglass case or known as forged carbon.

Furthermore, despite its carbon material known for lightness, this watch is approximately 102 grams heavy. A great feat in itself when considering that the case allows the timepiece to go at a maximum of 600m below water.

The Bezel

The 120-click unidirectional bezel is painted in the robust-looking all black. Although allowing one to calculate elapsed time, one particular drawback of this Squale watch review especially for the diving enthusiast is that they cannot fully utilize the minute markers due to the dark color of the bezel insert.

This is in spite of the bezel triangular marking applied with lume located at the 12th hour which is coated with the Swiss BGW9 Superluminova providing legibility in the dark.

The Dial

Next, on this Squale watch review is the dial design. It features a matte gray-like color with baton indices applied with lume that lights a beautiful turquoise ocean hue when in the dark. The blue detail accent is also accentuated within the minute hands and the Squale shark signature. These provide a cool distinction to the timepiece.

The dial of the Squale 60 ATMOS T-183 Forged Carbon Blue also highlights a date wheel replacing the 3rd-hour Arabic numeral. Talking about the glass, the material is that of sapphire and coated with anti-reflective – adding legibility and stronger resistance to scratches.

The Crown & The Movement

This particular watch comes fitted with a screw-down crown painted with the same black color seen on the case and strap. It’s also stamped with the Squale signature crest positioned at 4 o’clock.

Featuring the Sellita SW 200 automatic movement in 1 Elabore grande from Switzerland. This machinery runs amazingly at 28.800 BPH and a 38-hour power reserve. The ideal partner for a robust watch.

The Watch Band

The Squale 60 ATMOS T-183 Forged Carbon Blue comes in with a leather strap stitched inside with a rubber material ornamented by a hand-painted blue color – as similarly seen in the dial signature and minute hand – located on its side. As such, the result is not just a chic, intelligent watch but also the durability along with the water resistance that the band material features.

Another most useful feature of this specific watch is the lug size of the common 20mm. This certainly gives the wearer freedom to alternate between different colors and types of bracelets to suit personal preference. One suggestion for the brave and those looking for a more sporty look is to switch the band to a hue similar to the blue detail on the timepiece.

Final Words

A final verdict on this particular Squale watch review. The 60 ATMOS T-183 Forged Carbon Blue is a professional dive watch providing an innovative thought to the materiality and capability of 600 m water resistance.

Coupled with the beautiful blue details and simple gray-black color, the result is a watch you can depend on not just for a day down at the beach or out in the sea but also for the everyday moments.

Consider getting one for yourself? You can find the Squale 60 ATMOS T-183 Forged Carbon both in Blue and Orange at roughly around $1.270 at the Gnomon shop.
