Mido is one of the renowned watch brands under the Swatch group that has been around for years. A number of years in producing watches definitely means anything for Mido to create a list of innovative and exceptional timepieces. Among many collections, the Mido Multifort is one of Mido’s favorite and popular collections.

As for the brand itself, Mido’s product is much influenced by architectural design to create aesthetic and authentic timepieces. Ever since the beginning, the brand has focused on making robust self-winding watches aside from just the delicate design. That makes, Mido’s collection offers a splendid package of functionality and aesthetics.

In order to know Mido deeper, exploring one of its well-known collections would be an effective way. As such, this article will discuss the Mido Multifort collection. We’ll delve more into the timepieces and what makes this Mido collection worth buying.

A Brief About Mido Watch Brand

Talking about the watch brand Mido, it’s almost synonymous with the spirit of innovation. Started the journey in 1918 by a watchmaker, Georges Schaeren, the brand managed to advance itself and bring many appealing collections for watch enthusiasts.

Mido is one of the well-known brands under the Swiss group. The Mido is derived from the Spanish “yo mido” which means “I measure”. Until today, Mido’s watches stay true to their passionate heritage by making a timepiece dexterity and prowess. The result is a list of collections with a charming appearance and robust performance.

Some of the most renowned Mido innovations are the Aquadura Crown Sealing System. It makes a crown equipped with a cork gasket that results in high resistance to water. The other is the Powerwind Automatic Winding System used to increase the power reserve of a timepiece.

What to Expect in Mido Multifort

Mido Multifort collection is one that deserves attention in the watch community. This collection was introduced during the time of the Great Depression when people faced a financial crisis. However, during this critical period, Mido revealed its iconic collection. In 1934, the Multifort was established which took inspiration from the bold aesthetics of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

The Multifort was born with its distinctive charm that lasts until today. The benchmark of Multifort is its ability to be prone to water, dust, and rust, shock-resistant, and anti-magnetic. If you notice the detail in some Multifort timepieces, it has Geneva stripes that resemble the usual look of bridges.

Until today, Multifort collections keep advancing their timepieces with more modern features including a chronometer and GMT function. After all, Mido will still continue to uphold its legacy through another iconic and innovative collection in the future. So, is Mido Multifort worth buying? The answer is simply yes.

The iconic Mido Multifort Collection You Should Have

Multifort is definitely popular for certain reasons. Ever since its breakthrough, this collection provide something that not many brands can afford. Some of the most well-known aspects come from its water resistance and shockproof resistance for its movement.

Below are some of my favorite Mido Multifort that might pick your interest.

Multifort Power Reserve Blue

The first Multifort I would like to suggest is the Multifort Power Reserve Blue. The Geneva stripes on the movement do make an appealing and pleasing view even with a simple glance. Against the sunburst blue dial background are clear white graduations and vibrant red numerals. That makes a good combination to create a splendid view.

The power reserve can be spotted in the semi-circular display located at the 8 to 10 o’clock position. That allows the wearer to know the remaining stored energy measured by the amount of tension on the mainspring. The watch itself can have a power reserve for up to 80 hours. This impressive power is possible thanks to its finely decorated Elaboré-grade automatic movement known as the Mido Caliber 80.

Multifort Special Edition 42mm

As special as how its story started, Mido Multifort Special Edition gives honor to architectural Sydney’s Harbour Bridge that radiates force and strength through its values and aesthetics. As you can see how it looks, the watch gives a stunning aesthetic with its black dial and orange appliques and hands – a solid look that goes well with the color theme.

However, despite its elegant look, the watch is built to stand hardness and robustness. At the heart of the watch is the reliable Swiss automatic movement Caliber 80 that provides a full 80-hour power reserve. This special edition is designed to be an all-rounder Sports model with wearability and legibility at its best.

Multifort Skeleton Vertigo Rhodium

Robust stainless steel construction that exudes a tough appearance through its skeletonized dial, the Mido Multifort Skeleton Vertigo Rhodium is another edition with a sporty line. At the center of the dial, Mido showcases a skeletonized version of the Calibre 80 movement. If you notice, the showcase is only at the center in order to help the wearer tell the time easier.

As the name mention, the highlight of this Multifort is the dial showcasing the movement. As such, Mido decided to do without a date wheel as it might be too crowded and cluttered. Besides, looking at how the intricate movement works would mesmerize you at its best.

Multifort Dual Time Black 42mm

The next line of Mido Multifort is the Dual Time Black 42mm which gives an elegant look but goes beyond just an appearance with its function and performance. Many dual-time watches use a sub-dial to indicate the second time but Mido decided to make its own path. The unique second time-zone display sits right at the center of the inner dial with its 24-hour markers and orange hash marks.

The skeletonized orange GMT hand indicates the home time while the other for the second time. Aside from the dual time feature, this Mido Multifort also provides a date window located at the 3 ‘clock position. Driven by the Caliber 80, the Multifort Dual Time gives a complete package of self-winding timepieces with GMT complication, watertight, antimagnetic, and impact resistant.

Multifort Patrimony Chronograph Blue

The list goes to the most complicated Mido Multifort with the Patrimony Chronograph. The watch has a rose gold PVD-coated stainless steel case with slim tapered lugs. Protruding at the right side, you can see two classic oversized chronograph pump pushers and the crown. An impeccable finish makes the watch looks luxuriously enchanting.

Measuring with a contemporary 42mm case diameter, the dial features two sub-dials as a chronograph with a sunray effect. The dial design somehow gives a vintage look with a bicompax dial layout and date window at the 6 o’clock position which establishes a visually symmetrical appearance.

Final Thought

The popularity of Mido Multifort is indeed unquestionable anymore, especially considering the outstanding journey throughout a hard time until now. Nevertheless, this edition offers something with exceptional beauty and performance that gives a complete package.

In addition to that, Mido always has its way to keep innovating and giving the best experience of time wearing for its lovers. Their dedication and passion bring the company to remain a classic choice to get a piece of timepieces with splendid features.
