Last year marked the 60th anniversary of the first ever dive watch created by Seiko, the now emblematic 62MAS model. Still a great source of inspiration for the brand, its clean and purposeful design has been modernized to be the basis for the creation of the contemporary yet retro inspired Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver. During the 60th anniversary celebration last year, Seiko launched a truly cool project where fans got a chance to choose what its upcoming 2026 1965 Diver should look like. A total of 4 different colour schemes were offered for the latest release of this 1965 Diver, all inspired by the ever shifting colours of the sea and the flow of time from sunrise to sunset, expressing 1 of 4 seascape scenes at a different time of day.

After an incredible turnout during the voting period, the vibrant "Daytime Blue" concept emerged as the undisputed winner. Today we are proud to introduce the final complete piece, the Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver Fan Selected HBC011J. It delivers a stunning modern revival of a legendary 1960s skin diver layout, seamlessly integrating high performance technical upgrades while honoring its rich vintage roots.
A well-received favourite among the Seiko community, the Seiko Prospex Divers 1965 Heritage continues the beloved design language of the 1965 Heritage series. With a diameter of 40mm, a compact lug-to-lug length of 46.4mm, a lug width of 20mm, and a thickness of just 13mm, it offers excellent wearability across a wide range of wrist sizes. As a thoughtful throwback to the original 62MAS, this model stands as the most petite timepiece within the Prospex lineup, blending vintage proportions with modern craftsmanship for everyday comfort and timeless appeal.

Crafted for durability, the Prospex features a stainless steel case and matching bracelet, both treated with Seiko's proprietary Dia-Shield super-hard coating for enhanced scratch and corrosion resistance. The unidirectional bezel operates with a smooth 120-click rotation and zero free play, executed in the same "Daytime Blue" that stays true to the theme. The mid-case showcases a stunning interplay of satin brushing and mirror polishing, highlighted by a razor-sharp Zaratsu polished line along the case side that brings a modern, high-end twist to this vintage-inspired diver. Furthermore, its beautifully proportioned, compact case profile allows for an incredibly intricate and refined level of finishing.
Satin brushed and robust, the screw down case back ensures an impressive 300 meter water resistance, making this timepiece a reliable diving companion. The sterile screw down crown at the 3 o'clock position adds to its professional grade functionality. Branded with Seiko's iconic tsunami emblem, the caseback also bears the "LIMITED EDITION" inscription with serial number engraved, marking its exclusive status within the Prospex lineup. With lug holes on the sides, strap changes are quick and effortless. Another notable upgrade is the use of a double domed anti reflective sapphire crystal, replacing the usual Hardlex mineral glass for improved clarity and durability.

Sporting a beautiful "Daytime Blue" dial which evokes the clear blue waters you find in tropical locales where the water is clear and the sun is shining, this Prospex creates a fresh and sophisticated impression on the wrist. A delicate wave texture runs across the entire dial surface, where alternating matte and polished ridges catch ambient light dynamically from any perspective. The layout features perfectly symmetrical, applied hour markers. The markers and hands are generously coated with long lasting Lumibrite to ensure excellent legibility even in total darkness. Staying true to its heritage, the watch revives the original 1965 handset design.
This timepiece continues to use the automatic movement featured in previous 1965 Heritage models, the 6R55 caliber. Running at 21,600 beats per hour (3 Hertz), the movement includes both hacking and hand-winding functions for precise time setting and convenience. With 24 jewels and an impressive power reserve of 72 hours, it offers 22 hours more autonomy than the 7R and 6S calibers. This combination ensures reliable performance, accuracy, and endurance, making it perfectly suited for both everyday wear and demanding dive conditions.

Complementing the stainless steel bracelet, the re-engineered clasp incorporates a modern on-the-fly micro adjustment mechanism for instant sizing changes. Watch enthusiasts can effortlessly refine the fit without tools, whether expanding the bracelet over a neoprene wetsuit during aquatic activities or accommodating subtle wrist expansion throughout a warm day. This versatile extension mechanism delivers total operational convenience alongside all day wearing comfort.
Beyond its gorgeous retro aesthetics, the Seiko Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver delivers serious tool watch capability where it counts. Born from global fan voting in the Daytime Blue shade, this limited edition release restricted to 4500 pieces worldwide captures the collective spirit of the watch community. It pairs professional grade features like DiaShield protection and Zaratsu polishing with everyday wearability, making it equally at home beneath the waves or in the office. For collectors searching for an uncommon dive watch steeped in heritage and modern performance, the HBC011J stands out as an absolute must own.
