Japan is known for many things, perhaps one of the most widely recognised for its technological innovations. In the world of watches, Japanese watchmakers are widely known to excel in integrating modern technologies and meticulous craftsmanship to their watches, proving to be a serious competitor against the Swiss. Since 1950, Orient has been one of the most prominent watchmakers in Japan, producing mechanical in-house movements and high quality watches that pack incredible value. Joining the Seiko Epson group in the early 2000s, Orient continued to strive in producing a wide array of options ranging from divers to dress watches.
Orient Star features Orient's luxury line of JDM watches, offering their most premium and most eminent watches among their brand. Distinguished by the beautifully finished movements and refined designs, Orient Star focuses primarily on three main categories: Classic, Sports and Contemporary, each having their own unique design element and characteristics.

The high-polish finish contrasts beautifully with the satin-brushed sides of the case, enhancing its refined presence. With a case diameter of 30.5mm, a thickness of 11mm, and a lug-to-lug distance of 36.6mm, the watch is thoughtfully designed for ladies, offering a premium yet compact fit. The gently curved lugs allow the case to sit comfortably on the wrist, further elevating wearability. Complementing its elegance with practicality, the watch also provides 50 metres of water resistance, making it a reliable companion for everyday use.
One of the most captivating features of the Orient Star Contemporary Semi Skeleton Ladies Blue Grey is its dial. Protected beneath a domed sapphire crystal, the design draws inspiration from Keshiki, celebrating the beauty of Japanese landscapes, and incorporates colours that evoke the sky and sea, connecting the world in a subtle harmony. Within this theme, the poetic concept of snowlight comes alive, capturing the serene shimmer of light across snow-covered ground and softly illuminating its surroundings. The new blue-grey execution enriches this imagery, gradually fading into a deep navy on the upper half, creating a gentle interplay of light and shadow that reflects the quiet elegance of a tranquil winter landscape.

Furthermore, the rose gold colour used throughout, not only the crown – also on the hands and Orient Star logo, the indices - symbolises the brightness of the morning sun. The skeletonized cut-out at the 9 o'clock position displays the beating heart of the movement, viewing the moving parts of the movement is simply a joy to watch. The intricately finished applied indices adds another dimension to the dial, making it truly sophisticated and elegant.
Visible through the see-through case back is the Orient in-house caliber 55C22, a premium automatic movement from the brand's higher line. This finely crafted 20-jewel movement offers a power reserve of 40 hours and beats at a steady frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour. It also supports both hand-winding and hacking functions, enhancing precision and versatility. Adding to its exclusivity, each case back is engraved with a unique serial number, making every timepiece distinctly individual.
