Straight to its mechanical heart: the Ball Trainmaster is powered by the Ball RR1801 automatic movement, which is based on an ETA movement. The movement adds a moon phase complication for an added touch of elegance. Ball puts an emphasis on accuracy under adverse conditions. So while they are from the dress collection they are made to be tough withstanding.

The Trainmaster Moon Phase Black - leather - Ref. NM3082D-LLJ-BK has a unique case design synonymous now with all Ball watches. The stainless steel case is polished throughout to give the watch a sense of quality. Measuring 40mm, the stainless steel case with a unique downward curving lugs helps in wearing comfort. To top it up, the Trainmaster uses a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment for added toughness and clarity.

Unique guilloche dial with radiating finishing

The screwdown crown at 3 is engraved with Ball's “RR” logo. Making this a good 50m water resistant, good enough for everyday wear.

One of the unique aspects of the Ball watches are their use of tritium gas tubes. The tubes have tritium gas inside which is radioactive, emitting electrons which react with a phosphor layer that coats the inside of the tube. The result is a constant emission of light.

The Trainmaster possessed an unique black guilloche dial with radiating finishing on its periphery,  only to be impeded elegantly by the inner section where the moon phase and logo is placed.

The dial of the Trainmaster Moon Phase takes centerstage of this model. The guilloche patterned dial is resembles rays of moonlight radiating from the center of the dial which is where the moon phase is found. The moon phase disc features 26 micro gas tubes decorated with silvery stars shimmering resembling the sky. To ensure easy time reading, the dial features an additional 14 micro gas tubes on the dial and hands, which requires no external light source to charge up. The dial is really something out of the ordinary and in a good way. We certainly can stare at the dial the whole day and admire the amount of thought and time that has gone into the making of each dial.
