Oris has dived back in time and is delighted to present the Oris Divers Sixty-Five – a revival of an iconic diver’s watch that first appeared in the Oris collection 50 years ago. The new Oris Divers Sixty-Five shares the retro looks of the 1960s original, but it’s been modernised using 21st century watchmaking techniques. The case is made of anti-corrosive stainless steel. The vintage-inspired bubble-curved glass is made of scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and comes with anti-reflective coating on the inside to reduce glare and increase legibility underwater.

Based on a diver watch Oris released 50 years ago, the Oris Divers Sixty Five is a close remake of that design with an upsize of the case to 42mm to stay with the times. With an inherently vintage look and feel the Oris Sixty Five manages to effectively capture the nostalgic charm. If you are used to the sea of big chunky diver watches that is available from every other brand now, you are in for a surprise with the Oris Sixty Five. Its rather slim profile at 13.2mm thick is made up mostly by the vintage looking domed sapphire crystal. The watch sits very flat on the wrist. Overall, the case is very well executed with definied edges, polished case sides and satin brushed along the tops of the long contouring lugs. The Oris signed screwdown crown is unguarded. The closed caseback's design is also directly lifted from the 1960s model.

For those who find the dial of the 40mm models too funky might prefer this instead. The increased sized Sixty Five has a more classical dial in terms of design layout but comes with a bolder color, deep blue. Depending on lighting and angle, will turn from black to vivid blue. This is far less busy dial with applied round indices. It adds something else to the mix as well: an absolutely gorgeous dark blue dial that blends wonderfully with SuperLuminova.
The Sixty-Five comes on a choice of two straps; a quality rubber tropic strap or a metal bracelet with rivets on the sides to mimic the looks of the metal bracelet made in the 60s. The tropic rubber straps screams 60s funk. The rubber strap is extremely soft and pliable, making it very comfortable when worn.
