FINAL DELIVERY: This will be the final delivery for the Seiko Presage Enamel Pwr Rsv Ref. SARW035 / SPB045J1.
Seiko has gone through decades of refinements and developing its mechanical watchmaking skills. This had led to the creation of Seiko's own all-mechanical collection; the Presage. The collection is heavily based on Seiko's heritage whereby most of the design cues are translated from the 1913 Laurel (with an enamel white dial and Arabic numerals).
Seiko Presage Enamel Power Reserve Ref. SPB045J1
In the Presage line consist of Seiko’s leading mechanical watch collection at nearly every price point imaginable, like the caliber 4R, 6R and 8R, and today we introduced to you a new model in our collection, the Presage Enamel Pwr Rsv Ref. SPB045J1 or known in Japan as the SARW035. This is a classic dress watch entirely made in-house by Seiko, and features an impeccable fire-treated enamel dial crafted in the land of the rising sun.
Seiko's expertise with chronographs can be traced back to the 1960's when they introduced the manual winding caliber 5719 for the summer Olympics. Merely a few years later they were in the race (competing with Breitling and Heuer) to introduce the world's first automatic chronograph with caliber 6139, which features revolutionary innovations such as the "magic lever", column wheel and vertical clutch.
Enamel dial with matching blued hands
As it is an in the Presage line, the SPB045J1 is powered by Seiko's 6R automatic caliber, the 6R27 operates at 28,800 BPH (4 Hertzs) with hacking and hand winding capabilities, which is the same caliber used in the Presage Enamel Ref. SPB047J1. It has 29 jewels with a power reserve of 45 hours through a Spron 510 mainspring.
The main difference from the SPB047J1 is the placements of the additional power reserve indicator and sub date display, located at 9 and 6 o'clock respectively. Both the date subdial and power reserve indicator are hand painted onto the dial, while leaving each indications unimpeded when viewing. This is a very high level of fine finishing is demonstrated again in this presage model.
Elegant case finishing
A gentlemen’s mechanical watch like the SPB045J1, can be worn for any ocasion and feel proud of it especially for it's uncanny resemblence to its predigre “Grand Seiko” cousins. Part of the Presage lineup of dress watches, means that this is a step above the Spirit collection(SARB033) in terms of built and finishing. The SPB045J1 is fitted in a modest 40.5mm case with an average profile of 12.8mm thick (with the additional complications). This stainless steel case is then finished in a mix of satin brush and polishing to give it a more upmarket look.
The most unique feature of the Presage Power Reserve is probably the white enamel dial that stays true to its heritage since the 1913 Laurel watch. The advantage of enamel is of course its toughness and it will neither wear off nor age. Which means it will retain the same fine glossy finishing even after many years. It is a one piece enamel dial, with snailing sub-dials at 6 and 9 o'clock.
Seiko's 6R27 Calibre with display back
To top things off, the dial is paired with a set of elegant blued hands, while the hour markers are painted with elongated roman numerals. The hour markers are deep black, painted directly onto its enamel dial surface repeatedly at least 10 times, so to achieve great depth and contrast. One can easily spend hours looking at the watch to admire the intricate details that Seiko has put into this excellent dress watch, withstanding the very close scrutiny, and able to pass with flying colors.
The SPB045J1 comes with a genuine black alligator leather strap with a deployment clasp with push button release.
