Japan is known for many things, perhaps one of the most widely recognised for its technological innovations. In the world of watches, Japanese watchmakers are widely known to excel in integrating modern technologies and meticulous craftsmanship to their watches, proving to be a serious competitor against the Swiss. Since 1950, Orient has been one of the most prominent watchmakers in Japan, producing mechanical in-house movements and high quality watches that pack incredible value. Joining the Seiko Epson group in the early 2000s, Orient continued to strive in producing a wide array of options ranging from divers to dress watches.
Orient Star features Orient’s luxury line of JDM watches, offering their most premium and most eminent watches among their brand. Distinguished by the beautifully finished movements and refined designs, Orient Star focuses primarily on three main categories: Classic, Sports and Contemporary, each having their own unique design element and characteristics.
Guaranteeing versatility with timeless designs suitable for any occasion, the Orient Star Contemporary Collection dates back to 1951 when the first timepiece incorporating Orient’s in-house chronometer was released. Each “true star” timepiece shows off an elegant dress watch case, silver hands, a reliable mechanical movement and trendy dial designs. Over the next few decades, Orient introduced well-received line-ups like the Orient Star Dynamic and skeleton-styled Orient Mon Bijou. Orient also launched sports divers such as the Weekly Auto Orient King Diver Ref. 19410, built with the brand’s first-ever automatic mechanism, around the same time as collections from Seiko and Citizen were released during the 1990s.

Orient Star's top of the line Semi Skeleton watch |
Without a doubt, the star of the show is the magnificent dial of the Orient Star. Underneath the flat crystal, the semi-skeleton design from the series incorporates beautiful dial colours representing the sky and the sea connecting the world, began with the desire of Orient Star to be worn by people around the globe. Inspired by the seaside at dawn, the model depicts beautiful sea and sky scenes just after the sun has risen. Perfecting the craft since 1991, openwork watchmaking is no stranger to Orient which had released their first-ever semi-skeleton watch, the Orient Star Ref. WZ0011FH, in October 2003.
