With the landscape of watches getting crowded with the ever-growing competition, many strong players dominate the market to overshadow brands like Glycine. Nevertheless, Glycine continues to produce a wide array of compelling watches that hold their own. Established back in 1914, Glycine was founded by Eugène Meylan in Bienne, Switzerland, a place where countless prestigious watchmakers call home. Meylan was an accomplished watch engineer who strove for perfection and nothing less. Through his strong will and determination, he brought Glycine to greater heights with the successful production of extremely precise and fine miniature movements that were encased in precious gold and platinum cases.

Meylan’s core beliefs and strong determination for perfection are embodied in Glycine watches even until this day. Perhaps Glycine is most distinguished for their historic Airman and Combat Sub collections, carrying great horological significance that influenced many prominent watches today. Alongside these impressive watches, Glycine also offers another range of mechanical field watches that leans toward a dressier appeal. The Glycine Combat 6 collection features rugged Swiss made watches with vintage inspired designs and appealing modern touches.
For all of you bronze watch lovers, Glycine introduced a series of breathtaking bronze variations to the Glycine Combat 6 line up. The golden-brown case of the Glycine Combat 6 Classic Bronze Red Ref. GL0287 is crafted out of marine grade CuSn8 bronze, a strengthened alloy of copper and tin with incredible corrosion and wear resistance properties. The charm of a bronze watch comes from its distinct antique-look that develops over time due to oxidation as the watch ages. There are no two watches that age exactly the same from one another with each watch possessing its own unique ‘patina’ that further amplifies the vintage aspect of the piece. The bronze case essentially grows with you, making the watch exclusively yours.

The Combat 6 Classic Bronze Red Ref. GL0287 is packed in a sizable 43mm case, exerting an exciting bold wrist presence that will certainly be a statement on your wrist. On the other hand, the case profile is kept slender with a thickness of only 10.6mm, allowing it to elegantly slide under a cuff of your favourite shirt easily. The watch is presented with a 22mm rustic brown calf leather strap to complete the whole package.
Another key highlight of the watch is undoubtedly its striking red sunburst dial of the Combat 6 Classic Bronze Red Ref. GL0287. The dial adds a pleasing depth and character to the overall look, making the piece appear simply stunning even from a distance as it plays with the light from various angles. In line with the bronze case, the graceful leaf-shaped hands and indexes are treated with a champagne-gold tone coating for a retro 60s design. On top of that, the dial is protected with a domed sapphire crystal with 3 layers of anti-reflective coating on the underside.

Under the hood, the Combat 6 Classic Bronze Red Ref. GL0287 runs on Glycine’s Cal. GL224 Swiss automatic movement. Based on the ETA 2824-2/SW200-1, this 25/26 jewel movement is renowned for its reliability as a ‘workhorse’ movement with a 4Hz beat rate of 28,800 BPH and a power reserve of 38 hours. The movement is visible at the back of the watch through its screw-down display case back which provides protection against accidental water splashes with 50m of water resistance.
