The 200m water resistant case measures 40mm case without the crown has a lug to lug length of 46.5mm, and a thickness of about 12.8mm, with a lug width of 20mm. The short downwards curving lugs mean that the watch sits nicely on all wrist sizes. The watch weighs a good 72 grams without the strap.
The blue bezel is a nice pairing with the yellow gold case and has deep grooves machined into it for a good grip. It rotates smoothly into 120 positions in a counter-clockwise direction.
The highlight of the sublime Squale 20 ATMOS 18K Yellow Gold Ref. 1545YG is probably the iconic dial design synonymous with dive watches. A classic design that is immutable for years to come.
It is more than meets the eye. Squale has placed their original 1970s new old stock gilt dial into this new 20 ATMOS Yellow Gold variant, which seems matching since, after all, its a unique watch with precious metal.

A little more on the dial; It features three lines of text at 6 o’clock instead of their “shark” logo that can be seen on the rest of the 20 ATMOS models. The NOS dial has a subtle sunburst effect to give the watch a sense of elegance. The NOS dial features C3 luminous hour markers with gold/gilt trims around them, and even the date window also has that gold trim to keep things uniform.
Moving on to the case back which is also made out of a solid block of yellow gold. It showcases a mixture of satin brushed in the middle and polished finishing flanged around it. In the middle, it has all the information engraved, with the “18K, 750” emblem to indicate that this watch is indeed made of the precious metal, 18K yellow gold.

The 20 ATMOS 18K Yellow Gold Ref. 1545YG comes with a flat sapphire crystal with 2.5 times magnifier. The sapphire crystal is also coated with anti-reflective on the inside for better clarity.
Since this 20 ATMOS is not the typical dive watch that one’s brings to seasonal diving (we know some do), this 18K YG variant is paired with an elegant blue leather strap that matches with the bezel color.

The 20 ATMOS collection has been an all-time classic for decades for Squale, and the 18K Yellow Gold Ref. 1545YG brings things to another level of luxury. It has the best of both vintage and modern touch altogether, making it a sought after. It probably rivals precious metal watches that cost a few times its asking price. Therefore, if one is looking for something with both old and new, classy yet functional, this 20 ATMOS is most probably a welcome flash of precious metal dive watch for your wrist.
