Seiko's satin brush and high polished finishing |
The Seiko 5 Sports "SKX Series" carries forward the DNA of its predecessor with unmistakable presence. Its stainless steel case measures a wearable 38mm across, 12.1mm in height, and 44.2mm lug to lug with a practical 22mm lug width. These proportions strike a sweet balance between classic presence and everyday comfort. Retaining its 100m water resistance and the iconic SKX design cues, the shorter lugs allow the watch to hug the wrist seamlessly, whether on smaller or larger wrists, delivering that familiar "fits like a glove" experience collectors love.
The bezel is where the Pepsi vibe shouts the loudest, showcasing a crisp blue and red color theme with large printed markings and a buttery smooth 120-click bidirectional rotation. Sitting on top is Seiko's Hardlex, while the case combines satin brushing and high-polished sides, all covered in black hard coating that adds a sleek modern style reminiscent of the Pepsi Black color tone. It delivers pure tactile and visual satisfaction for collectors who live for details.
This edition features a clean black dial with a subtle yet clever makeover while keeping its utilitarian charm. The new Seiko 5 logo is tilted 45 degrees anti-clockwise, perfectly balanced by the "GMT" text at six o'clock in place of the old orange "Diver's 200m." Just above it, a bold "PEPSI" inscription nods to the collaboration. A new GMT hand outlined in red adds function and flair, while the large SKX-style indices, now framed with Pepsi blue metal trims, ensure instant legibility. These pair with Seiko's classic hour and minute hands framed in silver. Generous LumiBrite coating on both markers and hands guarantees hours of bright, crisp glow during late-night desk dives or low-light adventures.
