Navygraf Chrono

Écrire une critique

Military timepieces have captured the interests of watch collectors worldwide for their rich heritage built throughout great world wars as an indispensable tool for military personnel. When it comes to steadfast military performance, the French Navy has proven to be a force to be reckoned with, being among the largest and most powerful naval forces in the world. In an effort to create a military-grade timepiece for French marine professionals that could handle the unforgiving seas, YEMA collaborated with the French Navy, or Marine Nationale in French, to design a collector's Navygraf dedicated to the French Navy.

Yema Navygraf Chrono

We all are familiar with countless exceptional watches made by the Swiss and Japanese that are dominating the market. Nonetheless, the French also displayed excellence in the fine art of watchmaking with the creation of many beautifully decorated haute horlogerie pieces and complex movements. While YEMA may not be a name that the masses are entirely familiar with, it is a brand synonymous with the production of fine French-made timepieces and an incredibly rich heritage. Founded in 1948 by French watchmaker Henry Louis Belmont, YEMA has demonstrated remarkable mastery in watchmaking with the creative integration of innovative designs to their ever-dependable tool watches. Today, YEMA adds a vibrant new chapter to its storied legacy by expanding the Navygraf collection with the introduction of the Navygraf Chrono Blue, a watch that embodies precision, heritage, and maritime excellence.

Crafted for both form and function, the Navygraf Chrono Blue is housed in a robust 40mm stainless steel case that wears comfortably on the wrist, thanks to its balanced 49mm lug to lug length and a manageable 13.9mm thickness. The polished surfaces are tastefully executed, bringing a subtle sheen that contrasts beautifully with the tool like character of the watch. Attention to detail is evident in the finely executed bevels along the case, adding a touch of refinement to its otherwise rugged build, an ideal balance for a timepiece born from military precision yet designed for everyday versatility.

High-contrast tricompax dial

Enhancing its functionality, the watch features a scratch resistant bi directional sapphire bezel with a 60 to 0 minute countdown graduation, ideal for precise time tracking during dives or daily routines. At the side of the case, the YEMA logo push crown is flanked by sturdy crown guards, offering added protection while reinforcing the watch's robust, military ready design. Just next to it, the chronograph pushers are seamlessly integrated, allowing for intuitive operation without disrupting the sleek silhouette. With 100 meters of water resistance, the Navygraf Chrono Blue is purposefully built to perform under pressure, whether at sea or on land, making it a reliable companion for professionals and collectors alike.

Protecting the face of the watch is a beautifully domed sapphire crystal that not only offers exceptional durability but also adds a subtle vintage charm. Underneath, the matte blue dial immediately draws the eye, providing a striking contrast to the crisp white "exclamation point" markers which is an iconic Navygraf signature dating back to the 1970s. The baton shaped hands complement the dial's clean aesthetics, accompanied by bold markers on both the dial and bezel, all generously treated with Superluminova to ensure excellent visibility in low light conditions. Thanks to the reliable Valjoux chronograph movement, this timepiece features a sleek tri-compax layout that enhances both function and visual balance. The subdials at 6, 9, and 12 o'clock track the 12 hour chronograph, running seconds, and 30 minutes counter respectively, while a day date window at 3 o'clock adds everyday practicality without compromising the symmetry of the design.

Navygraf's DNA and count-down sapphire bezel

Nicely protected beneath a refined caseback lies the ETA Valjoux 7750 automatic caliber, renowned for its precision and reliability. This robust movement features an automatic central winding mechanism equipped with ball bearings, ensuring smooth and efficient energy transfer. With 25 jewels, it operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz) and offers a solid 48-hour power reserve, making it a dependable heart for the Navygraf Chrono Blue.

The watch comes with a 20mm stainless steel bracelet that pairs brushed side links with polished central links, delivering a striking contrast that blends toughness and sophistication. Secured by a double safety folding clasp engraved with the YEMA logo, it ensures a comfortable fit and reliable wear throughout the day.

Swiss chronograph caliber, ETA Valjoux 7750 caliber

The YEMA Navygraf Chrono Blue marks an exciting new chapter in the Navygraf series as its very first chronograph, powered by the legendary ETA Valjoux 7750 movement, an icon in the world of watchmaking. This timepiece brilliantly blends vintage flair with modern innovation. Its robust stainless steel case offers impressive water resistance, built to withstand demanding environments while maintaining timeless elegance. With a striking matte blue dial and highly functional chronograph complications, the Navygraf Chrono Blue strikes the perfect balance between sportiness and sophistication. Whether timing your next adventure or dressing casually, this watch effortlessly transitions from rugged tool to stylish statement, securing its place as a true standout in the world of modern chronographs.
