60 ATMOS - Squalematic Galaxy Blue - 6045/GALA

The Squale 60 ATMOS - Squalematic Galaxy Blue - 6045/GALA is the latest to come out of Squale at Baselworld 2017. The watch is a remake of the original Squalematic Diver from the 70s.

The navy blue dial is nostalgic and yet captivating to look at. The beautiful dial features applied multifaceted steel markers which catches light, depending on the angle it appears blue or black giving dimensions to the dial.  With Superluminova applied to the ends of the steel makers for superb low light visibility.

Hand applied multifaceted steel markers

The unidirectional bezel is tight and clicks positively. The highlight of the bezel is the beautiful bakelite inlay with multifaceted steel markers hand set into the bakelite. This look dates back to the diver watches Squale made int he 1970s.

Made in the same exact method Squale used in the past the bezel inlay adds a hint of nostalgia to the Squalematic. The bakelite bezel inlay is coloured in a multi-stage process. First the multifaceted metal applique pis applied by hand, followed by colouring with varnishes immune to seawater corrosion, and then application to the supporting steel substrate. This guarantees that the component is warm to the touch while guaranteeing excellent bevel legibility thanks to the transparency.

The bezel can be loosened and removed by loosening the 4 screws on the side of the bezel for easy maintanence.

The 44mm staineless steel case is hand polished and shares the same iconic case shape Squale is known for. The elegant flowing design of the case makes the watch exceptionally comfortable to wear as it wraps around your wrist.

The scratch-resistant double domed sapphire crystal is enhanced with anti-reflective treatment protecting this timepiece up to 60ATMOS/600m water resistance. This double domed sapphire crystal gives it a perfect retro look and feel, adding to the uniqueness and special character of the Squalematic.

This time, the Squalematic diver comes with a very comfortable matching light brown leather strap with perforation for added breathability and comfort.
