50 ATMOS Onda Rosa

A beautiful tribute to the ocean, the Onda collection lives out Squale’s ethos with its newest addition, the Squale 50 Atmos Onda Rosa, which means “pink wave” in Italian. For the past few decades, this Swiss watchmaker has been crafting divers for many famous brands including Aquastar, Doxa and Blancpain, presenting iconic line-ups that have earned the admiration of many watch collectors.

Preserving most features of its original design, the Onda Rosa exudes retro vibes while flaunting improvements especially in case construction and finishing through the use of modern technology.

Squale 50 ATMOS Onda Rosa

The Onda is powered by an ETA2824-2 / SW200-1 which operates at 28,800 bph (4 Hertz) with hacking and hand winding capabilities. This movement has 25 jewels and a power reserve of 38 hours. Similar to the Squale 50 Atmos Polish Blue model, this timepiece has a case diameter of 42mm (inclusive of bezel) and a 48mm lug to lug length.

With a cutting edge case construction, this watch boasts a 500m water resistance without requiring the incorporation of the conventional Helium escapement valve. Its “von Büren" 316L stainless steel case also keeps the watch slim at only 12.5mm and is recognised for its high quality and timeless design courtesy of Squale’s beloved founder, Charles von Büren. This professional diver is also crafted with a signed screw-down crown at its 4 o´clock. Due to its recessed crown and elegant design of its polished case, this watch is exceptionally comfortable to wear even on smaller wrist sizes.
 

Unique wave dial with applied markers

The smooth, upgraded stainless steel 120 click uni-directional bezel is complemented with sleek silver raised and polished sixty-minute markings that elevates this timepiece with a grand allure against a satin-brushed matte bezel background. This bezel aesthetic pays homage to that of the popular Yacht-Master collection and bestows the watch with a charming athletic look.

What sets this timepiece apart is its gorgeous Onda dial which captures the majestic motion of the ocean waves engraved on its dial surface with the Squale logo proudly displayed at 12 o’clock. As an avid diver, I appreciate how this dial graces the Onda Rosa with a nautical oceanic style that offers a contemporary update whilst retaining key elements of Squale’s classic designs and upholding brand heritage.

Polished raised markers with matte background

Furthermore, this hand-painted dial is applied with steel vintage-style hour markers that is a common feature on other Squale vintage and exclusive models. This diver is also branded with a sequential serial number on its screw-in acid-etched case back which makes each piece unique. Protected by a flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coatings on both its interior and exterior surfaces, the dial markers are filled with Super-LumiNova which offers excellent legibility under any lighting conditions.

This metro pink diver comes with two interchangeable straps namely a stylish white “Stingray” strap with a “Butterfly” buckle. Handmade in Italy using high quality and extremely durable stingray material, backed up with calf leather, the white leather strap shows off a supple texture which complements this watch’s wave patterned dial.
