For the last 44 years everything at Sinn
has revolved around high-quality
mechanical watches. This brand’s
history began in 1961 when pilot and
flight instructor Helmut Sinn began to
manufacture pilot’s watches under his
own name in Frankfurt-Rödelheim.
These were exceptionally instrumentlike
wristwatches and board clocks of
high functionality, fulfilling the professional
demands of pilots perfectly. He
sold them directly from the factory
without using any type of middleman,
and he didn’t advertise either. High
functionality, top-grade indestructible
quality, and extreme cost-effectiveness
quickly got around the pilot
scene. And today these unique
qualities remain typical of Frankfurt’s
Sinn brand.
Sinn has long been an insider
among fans of mechanical watches,
for together with the renaissance
the mechanical wristwatch, interest
these special watches originating
Frankfurt also rose. Specialties of
house such as instrument-like chronographs
and sports and diver’s watches
were able to assert themselves
trade press comparison tests against
often much more expensive competition
bearing “bigger”names.
Every Sinn watch is
consistent proof of the task we have
assigned ourselves: The permanent
development of that which is technically,
and often physically, possible
within the confines of the watchmaking
craft.This is a task,by the way,
which consistently shows off the
quality of our timepieces: All of
the watches are manufactured in
Germany or Switzerland. Having parts
manufactured in lower-income
countries for cost reasons does not
comply with our company philosophy.
The purchase of a timepiece by
Sinn will always be accompanied by
the joy of tangible timekeeping for
friends of mechanical watches, as
well as the security of knowing that
one owns a high-quality product
crafted in the art of German engineering
containing often unique
technical details. For even in the
future, with the exception of informative ads in a select few trade
publications, Sinn will not be investing
in expensive large-scale advertising to
create a so-called image. Instead, we
will be creating new watch ideas that
no other clever brain has yet thought
up. Always new materials, new technology,
